HATIX – The Harz Vacation Ticket
A Relaxing & Free Trip Through the Harz Mountains
Our overnight guests and vacationers who, during their vacation in the Harz Mountains, visitor fee to the municipality of Walkenried can ride for free on nearly all public bus and streetcar lines in the districts of Göttingen, Goslar, Harz, and Mansfeld-Südharz with their guest card.

Traveling with HATIX—it's that easy
- Upon arrival at your vacation destination in the Harz Mountains, pay the visitor’s fee to your host and you will then receive the registration form along with the corresponding HATIX ticket. Please note that the ticket is valid only in conjunction with the registration form.
- The ticket is valid until your departure from the Harz region (including the day of departure). It is important that the registration form be filled out completely and that the exact dates of arrival and departure, as well as the number of people traveling with you, be noted.
- The person named on the HATIX ticket must be in the vehicle in person (even for groups) and carry a valid photo ID. The ticket is non-transferable.
- The HATIX is valid on all public bus and streetcar routes in the Harz district, as well as on selected VGS routes in the Mansfeld-Südharz district and in the districts of Goslar and Göttingen (former Osterode district), and, as of January 1, 2026, on the regional rail lines between Walkenried, Herzberg, Seesen, and Bad Harzburg. Special buses, shared taxis, other DB Regio services, Veolia Verkehr, and the Harz narrow-gauge railways are excluded.
- Pets are not included in the HATIX service. The standard terms and conditions of carriage of the respective transportation company apply to them.
In addition, the general fare and transportation terms and conditions of the participating transit agencies, as well as the implementing regulations, apply .
Traveling by train is cheaper with HATIX+
- Walkenried is part of the “HATIX+ Schiene Südharz” pilot project. This means that the popular HATIX Harz vacation ticket is now also valid for rail travel and entitles holders to discounted fares on regional trains on the following route segments:
- Walkenried – Herzberg (Harz) – Wulften (RB 80 / RB 81)
- Herzberg (Harz) – Osterode am Harz – Seesen (RB 46)
- Day pass: 3€ for the first person, 1.50€ for each additional person (up to four additional people)
Connections in the Southern Harz Region
