Vacationers in the Harz region have something to look forward to. The popular HATIX vacation ticket will be expanded starting January 1, 2026. Guests in the western Harz region will then also be able to use the HATIX to ride regional trains. Until now, the ticket was valid only for bus travel.


All parties involved have agreed to this. This ticket is valid on the following sections of the route:


• DB Regio Lines RB 80/81: Walkenried – Bad Sachsa – Bad Lauterberg / Barbis –
Herzberg – Hattorf – Wulften
• DB Regio Line RB 46: Herzberg – Osterode – Gittelde/Bad Grund – Münchehof –
Seesen
• DB Regio Line RB 82: Seesen – Langelsheim – Goslar – Oker – Bad Harzburg
• Erixx Line RB 43: Goslar – Oker
• Erixx Line RE 10: Goslar – Oker – Bad Harzburg


The participants include the two rail operators DB Regio and Erixx GmbH, the Harz Regional Association (
), the districts of Goslar and Göttingen, as well as the public transit authorities: the Braunschweig Metropolitan Area Regional Association (
) and the South Lower Saxony Public Transit Association (Zweckverband Verkehrsverbund Süd-Niedersachsen).
Visitors staying at least one night in the Harz Mountains can now travel throughout the Lower Saxony portion of the Harz (
) without a car. It will also be possible to tour the Western Harz using various trains via
. This offer also applies to guests in the Eastern Harz region. If you’re traveling through the Western Harz region via
, you can also use the trains here with your HATIX pass.


The free use of public transportation with HATIX has been very well received by visitors throughout the Harz region
. In the Göttingen district, visitors have already been able to use HATIX trains for a small additional fee via
; now this service is fully integrated into the ticket here as well.
Initially, the project is set to run for one year, from January 1 through December 31,
2026. Afterward, an evaluation will determine the extent of its use and whether it will be continued.
Another collaboration is also set to begin in the new year: The city of Seesen is joining the HATIX network (
), meaning this ticket will also be valid here for all visitors.
The additional rail service is funded by the districts of Goslar and Göttingen.
